Terms of Service

Last updated: March 16, 2026

1. General Terms

FrictionBox is a friction-gate platform that helps you manage attention by inserting configurable interstitials — called "gates" — between you and distracting websites or apps. Gates run as micro-apps shown before a site loads, giving you a moment to decide whether to proceed.

By using FrictionBox, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the platform.

2. Data Access & Privacy

FrictionBox uses Google OAuth solely for user identity — to sign you in and associate your settings with your account. FrictionBox does not request access to any Google service data (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc.).

Your site list and gate configuration are stored locally in your browser. When signed in, your configuration may be synced to our servers using a key-value store keyed to your user ID. FrictionBox does not sell, share, or monetize your data.

The Chrome extension operates locally in your browser. It intercepts navigation to configured sites and displays gate interstitials. No browsing data is transmitted to FrictionBox servers.

3. Extension Behavior

The FrictionBox Chrome extension intercepts navigation to sites you have configured in your friction list. It does not modify page content, inject ads, or collect browsing history. The extension only activates for sites explicitly listed in your configuration.

4. Liability

FrictionBox is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. FrictionBox shall not be held liable for any damages arising from the use of the platform, extension, or any gates.

5. Changes to These Terms

FrictionBox may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
